While I was having a little nosey on Etsy yesterday I found a fantastic New York based artist . She creates back grounds to her work by applying colour pigments to damp wood blocks and then draws and paints her illustrations on using sharp lines and bold colours. You can buy prints of all the above at her Etsy Shop and from time to time there will be an original for sale. Go and look at all the other lovely work! Take a look!
Joanna Rutter
Joanna Rutter has fast become my favourite jewelry designer/maker of the moment and you can see why from these lovely photos!

SewSew At The Winter Arts Market
I am really excited because on the 28th Nov, SewSew will be taking part in the Winter Arts Market at St Georges Hall in Liverpool. If you have never visited this stunning building then have a look at this!

There’s going to be about 80 artists selling their wares along with live music, mulled wine and mince pies! What better way is there to get you into the festive spirit! You can also have a sneak peek at some of the designers that will be there at the Winter Arts Market blog! For any other information check out the below flyer. Hope to see you there!

The Wonderful World Of Laser Cutting!
I recently lost my laser cutting virginity, something I’d been wanting to do for a while! I’ve been thinking about doing a line of laser cut brooches for a while and after one failed attempt with wood, involving me hot footing it through Manchester city centre with 3 solid oak floor boards and becoming fairly disgruntled (3 might not sound like a lot but trust me the further you walk, the heavier they get!), I decided to go with some gorgeous handmade wool felt from the lovely Blooming Felt. In the end it felt much more fitting for SewSew to go with the felt rather than wool. They are in four original designs and are available here.
November Madness!
So since I last posted the Christmas mayhem has definitely set in and I’ve been rushed off my feet! Mainly due to my Christmas Sprouts! I thought people generally didn’t like sprouts but I was wrong as they’ve been flying off the shelf! And I must say it’s becoming a definite theme here in the SewSew workshop as sprouts are beginning to pop up everywhere. For example they’ve now attached themselves to the Christmas wreaths I was making!
I’d been wanting to make a wreath of felt sprouts for ages (I know, odd ambition, but there you go) and I was so happy with how it turned out! Perfect for anyone one who wants to add a bit of quirkiness to their Christmas decor!
Christmas Is Coming!
The nights are darker, my quilt’s been swapped for my snuggliest duvet, and this morning there was frost on the ground when I got up! Winter is definitely upon us, and that means the holiday season! Despite the fact I’ve been getting ready for months and was knitting scarves in July I’m still not sick of making Christmas goodies! In fact, so festive do I feel this morn, that I have had to seriously resist the urge to listen to the Andy Williams Christmas Album (when I say resist I mean I may have listened to ‘It’s The Holiday Season’ and maybe a little of ‘Silver Bells’ before turning it off!).
Anyway, seeing as I was so filled with festivities and Christmas cheer (see how it also makes me talk like a moron?) I thought I would share a few of my Christmas treats with you!

Love them or hate them, it isn’t Christmas without them! I’m going to have lots of these Christmas Sprouts peeping out from the branches of our trees this year! And also to get you in the christmas spirit are Christmas Wreaths! I made my first one yesterday and am very happy with it! There will be lots more to come so I will keep you posted, but here is the prototype!

Brand New Online Store!
SewSew has a brand new online store on the lovely Big Cartel! It’s opened just in time for the run up to Christmas and you’ll find lots of lovely new items in there! Here are a couple…..
Just found….
this awesome wallpaper! I was browsing FFFFOUND! when I came across a fantastic image of a wallpaper design by Flavor Paper. Based in New Orleans, they use water-based inks and grounds to create premium wallcoverings for retail and home. I love that from afar they look really pretty and traditional, and then up close they have a fun, quirky twist. Like this City Park design and Flower Pedal In Tahiti.

SewSew In Print!
The other day I got my copy of the spring issue of Lancashire Design & Living which I did an interview for a month or so ago. It is my first published interview so i was pretty excited and glad to see they included a pic of Rene The Straw-beret! He loves all the attention! Anyway, here are a few pics!
